About SACSE
Society for Advancement in Chemical Sciences and Education
Promoting scientific curiosity, excellence in chemical research, and vernacular science outreach among students & educators across South India since 2011.
SACSE was established in 2011, the year marked as the "International Year of Chemistry" by the United Nations to celebrate women in science and the 100th anniversary of Madam Marie Curie's Nobel Prize in Chemistry.
The Society for Advancement in Chemical Sciences and Education (SACSE) was founded with a vision to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry requirements in the field of chemical sciences. Over the years, we have grown into a vibrant community dedicated to promoting and popularizing science among students.
Our mission is to promote and popularize science among students and to inspire young minds to pursue science early in life.
We strive to:
- Foster scientific curiosity and innovation among students
- Provide hands-on learning opportunities through workshops and live chemistry demonstrations
- Facilitate networking with senior scientists, DAE researchers, and industry professionals
- Organize national educational programs, science quizzes, and competitions
- Promote research and innovation in chemical sciences
- Build a supportive community for teacher training and skill development
SACSE organizes various educational programs in schools and colleges across Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Kerala. These include:
- Science Quiz competitions
- Live chemistry demonstrations
- Popular science lectures
- Interactive student sessions
- Career guidance in Dept. of Atomic Energy
- Bilingual programs (English & Tamil)
- DST-INSPIRE program sponsorship
- Faculty development workshops
Programs are conducted in both English and Tamil, especially benefiting government institutions in rural Tamil Nadu. The response has been overwhelmingly positive, igniting scientific curiosity among students and teachers alike.
INSPIRE Program
SACSE hosts the "INSPIRE" program, sponsored by the Department of Science & Technology (DST), in Chennai colleges.
Faculty Development
We prioritize vernacular outreach for rural schools and conduct low-cost science pedagogy training for high school teachers with support from SSN College and DST.
Online faculty development programs have been successfully held with SRM University, Madurai Kamaraj University, and Siksha 'O' Anusandhan Bhubaneswar.

Program Guidelines & Terms
- A maximum of two (or at most three) SACSE scientists/members will conduct the program in schools/colleges
- Transportation and local hospitality shall be borne by the requesting institution
- For Government schools, the program is conducted completely free of cost
